A solid vacation base: Beverley Leisure Homes built on AL-KO chassis

Beverley Leisure Homes, based in Beverley/Yorkshire in the United Kingdom, has 30 employees and specializes in the construction of high-quality holiday homes that are built to order. The company offers both luxurious models and more cost-effective standard solutions. Customers can choose from a range of floor plans, sizes and equipment.

AL-KO has been supplying chassis for Beverley Leisure Homes CEO David Hall since 2017, when he established his first company offering high-quality, customized homes in the leisure sector, a highly competitive market. The AL-KO chassis formed the base of those homes, providing transportability, stability, and precise alignment. In 2019, David Hall founded another company specializing in standardized and more affordable holiday homes and, eventually, merged both companies to Beverley Leisure Homes in 2021. Today, the company combines the flexibility of customized design with the advantages of standardized production for holiday homes. There are now around 600 Beverley Leisure Homes standing solidly on AL-KO chassis.

AL-KO adapts the chassis to the different size requirements of Beverley Leisure Homes’ holiday homes. The smaller models are around eleven meters long and three to four meters wide, while the larger houses are up to 20 meters long and seven meters wide. These latter are delivered to their destination in two parts. AL-KO therefore provides chassis that can be divided into two halves, transported stably and joined together seamlessly on site.

The fact that AL-KO chassis have only minimal dimensional deviations and set the same constant high standards for all units are an advantage when it comes to installation. This allows the houses to be precisely aligned on their concrete foundations. “The right foundation and precise alignment are crucial for doors and windows to work properly,” explains David Hall. This meticulous approach ensures the houses can be reliably used for years.

“Our chassis are fully galvanized, which makes them particularly resistant to corrosion and environmental influences. This high material quality ensures that Beverley Leisure Homes’ holiday homes remain stable for decades, even in demanding conditions,” says Jonathan Chapman, Head of Sales of AL-KO’s UK site.

One example of how AL-KO helps to implement individual requirements is the adaptation of window arrangements to specific properties: “Some parks have plots with special views, so customers want the windows to capture exactly that view. This is something we can respond to flexibly thanks to AL-KO,” says Trudy Youngs, Director of Operations at Beverley Leisure Homes. “AL-KO can quickly adapt the design of the chassis accordingly without slowing down the production process.”

The flexibility of the AL-KO-chassis also comes down to its different connection techniques. Besides welded connections, which are strong but difficult to adjust, AL-KO also offers bolted chassis. Welded connections are often less flexible and require complex interventions for design changes, while bolted connections can be loosened and modified more easily.

AL-KO’s rapid production process is important to Beverley Leisure Homes’ business: “It is crucial for us to have a fast delivery rate. AL-KO can fully construct and deliver the chassis in less than four weeks. This enables us to bring a tailor-made holiday home to the market within six to seven weeks, from concept to final installation,” says David Hall. “Thanks to AL-KO’s fast response time, we don’t need to build up as much warehouse stock, which would represent a high financial risk for us,” explains the Beverley Leisure Homes CEO.
